In 2011 Canstruct was awarded a Building Education Revolution contract for the Federal Government to build a new multi-purpose hall for the Payne Road State School in Brisbane. A rigorous design phase has resulted in a visually stunning design inspired by a collaboration of architects from the school community and Canstruct’s design team. The hall is mostly for theatrical performances but also has Olympic specified flooring for indoor sports. It has a number of performance features including - an operable stage which can be configured differently for Choir or Orchestral events. There are also acoustically isolated rooms for music practice and warm-ups. A high level of Parents and Citizen’s involvement ensured the students needs were met and exceeded.
Canstruct also built – a covered Outdoor Learning Area; a breezeway for an existing teaching block; a combined tennis/netball court; groundsman’s room; Bike rack and a new carparking facility for the school. Approximately 100 employees and contractors worked on this job.
“Canstruct have not only provided us with a magnificent building which is the pride of our school community but have been a pleasure to work with, especially during the construction phase. Thanks guys for your patience and co-operation, in not only giving us a purpose built facility, but for your desire to help make our school so much better for kids.”
