Recent flooding in Papua New Guinea’s Oro Province swept away temporary bridges, and shut down access roads to Girua airport in the main town of Popondetta.
Local people caught up in the disaster have been helped by workers from the Brisbane-based civil engineering company Canstruct, who are operating in the province.
They’ve been putting together make-shift crossings, and helping injured people get to hospital.
Kris Beard, Canstruct’s project manager in Papua New Guinea, says employees worked alongside local agencies to keep supply lines open.
