BRISBANE Inner West Rotary Club and Oxley civil engineering company Canstruct are teaming up with the Endeavour Foundation to provide jobs for the intellectually disabled.
A $2.2 million food packaging facility in Wacol is under construction to replace the old building and double employee capacity.
Senior member of Rotary and Canstruct director Robin Murphy said the new facility would provide employment for 231 intellectually disabled people.
“I think it’s fantastic and the Rotary Club is pleased to be able to help,” he said.
“It’s the happiest workplace I have ever seen.”
Rotary has already raised almost $100,000 for the Endeavour project but is aiming for $250,000 by its estimated completion in June next year.
“This is the biggest project our club has undertaken in its 50-year history,” Mr Murphy said.
“It’s a stretch for our 26 members but we’ve had a lot of public support.” To make a donation or for more information, visit endeavour.com.au or call 3908 7254
